ii) Kaziranga, the land of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, is located on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra river. Surrounded by the hills of Barail and Karbi Anglong to the south, the Kaziranga National Park is considered one of the most beautiful parks in India. One-horned rhinos were hunted mercilessly here and they were almost on the brink of extinction.

Nearest railhead is Furkating (75 kms), the park is situated on the NH-37, ASTC and private buses are available from Guwahati and Tezpur. Taxis and cars are available from the nearest town of Bokakhat (23 kms).
iii) Eravikula National Park is located on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1975 and became a National Park in 1978. The park was established to protect the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. The endangered species of wild goat is the main inhabitant of the park, which is only to be found south of the Himalayas.

Area : 97 sq. kms

iv) Kanha National Park is the largest Wildlife Sanctuary in Asia. Kanha is original Kipling country, about which he wrote in his unforgettable classic Jungle Book. Due to depletion of the tiger population, the area was developed as an absolute sanctuary in 1952. Kanha National Park was created as in 1995 by a special law.
